After school programs

Our after school programs take place at GR!CU Headquarters, our welcoming and creative space in downtown Champaign. Each session has its own theme, and are led by GR!CU Summer Camp staff and volunteers.

Drop off: 3:30-4:00 pm
Pick-up: 5:00-5:30 pm
Location: GR!CU HQ - 117 North Market Street, Champaign, IL
Cost: Sliding scale $20-$40
Age range: 8-11 years old

We are able to accommodate 10 kids at each workshop. You will receive an email from us regarding your child’s enrollment after you register. We wish we could include everyone who signs up, and appreciate your patience with us as we continue to grow!

Big Feelings, Real Skills

with Tenyia Lewis, Empowerment Coach, GR!CU Camp 2026

Big feelings are a normal part of life, but knowing what to do with them can make all the difference! In this fun, interactive workshop, students will learn how emotions show up in their brains and bodies, explore what might be underneath big feelings, and practice simple coping skills they can use at school, at home, and with friends. Through activities, games, and discussion, students will leave with real-life tools to better understand and manage their emotions.

MAKE SOME NOISE: Finding your voice, facing your fears & remixing the stories in your head

Our brains tell us stories all day long... but we don't have to believe every single one! In this playful, music-filled workshop, we'll explore the stories that can make us feel nervous, embarrassed, “not good enough,” or afraid to try something new, and learn how to ask, “What else is true?”

Through games, writing, singing, rhythm, and making music together, we'll practice turning down the voice that says “I can't” and making a little more room for courage, creativity, and being ourselves. We'll write and perform our own “remixed” stories and discover that confidence doesn't mean never feeling scared... it means we can make some noise anyway!

Each workshop is limited to the first 10 kids, ages 8-11 years, old to sign up.
